PRE-CONTRACT PHASE

Stage 1 Design brief

The design brief describes the Client’s minimum requirements. Depending on the status of the project, an interview with the client, broker, exterior and interior designer will organised. This result  in a set of realistic basic requirements for the project. This design brief will sent to shipyard to prepare an offer to the Client

Stage 2 Tender package

Based on the design brief, the shipyards will offer many different yacht designs. It takes a lot of time to evaluate those designs for their pros and cons. To shorten this process a tender package can be executed to create apples and apples. The tender package is compiled in conjunction with the Interior Architect, Exterior Architect and the Naval Architects. The tender package comprise as a minimum:

  • General Arrangement
  • Short technical specification

When required the package can be extended with

  • 3D exterior design
  • Interior design
  • Naval architecture
  • Construction
  • Mechanical engineering

Stage 3 Design Review

Once a shipyard has proposed a yacht design, the project has to be reviewed.

  • Does it comply with the design brief?
  • Does it meet the requirement of the legislation?
  • What quality criteria are proposed?
  • Are the right technical solution chosen?
  • Are the proposed manufactures acceptable?
  • Etc

Based on the design brief a technical discussion starts to ensure the Client get the highest quality for the best price, to fulfil their dream.
Once the General Arrangement, technical specification and associated documents are settled, the contract can be signed.
